How many directors are required in California?

A corporation is required by California law to have at least three directors. However, the corporation may have one director if the corporation has only one shareholder; and the corporation must have at least two directors if the corporation has only two shareholders. If the corporation has a variable number of directors (e.g, no more than 7 and no less than 5), the maximum number cannot be more than twice the minimum.
